Swelling of the finger pulling out barbs is mostly considered to be a symptom caused by local infection, which can be treated with local antibiotic medication or drainage of the abscess. Barb in medicine is called nail reverse peeling, initially superficial skin injury, but tearing and pulling the barb will lead to the root of the barb broken, pathogens invade and cause infection. Localized redness, swelling, and pain can cause complications such as onychomycosis, purulent dactylitis, or subungual pus. Treatment is based on medication, such as topical tincture of iodine to help control the infection. When bacterial infection exists, antibiotic ointment such as erythromycin ointment and mupirocin ointment can be used externally and antibiotics such as amoxicillin and cefaclor can be taken to prevent and control the infection. If the abscess is serious and conservative treatment is ineffective, the abscess can be incised and drained, and regular disinfection and dressing change treatment. Daily attention should be paid to maintain local hygiene, do not tear and pull the barbs.
