What tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis of milk allergy

Confirmation tests for milk protein allergy are as follows: 1. blood test: including lgG antibody and lgE antibody, lgG antibody is less stable and less accurate; lgE antibody negative should be given high priority; 2. skin prick test: the allergen solution will be pricked on the skin and a positive reaction will confirm the diagnosis; 3. food provocation test: if a reaction to a certain food is found, avoid the food for 2-4 weeks. If the symptoms improve after 2-4 weeks, it is called a positive avoidance test. After the positive avoidance test and then eat the food, the symptoms appear again, that is called positive excitation test. Food avoidance plus a positive provocation test is the gold standard for the diagnosis of pediatric food allergy. Severely allergic patients should avoid the provocation test to avoid severe allergic symptoms.
