Chuanbei, or mother of pearl barley, has the efficacy of clearing heat and moistening the lungs (removing heat to nourish the lungs), dispersing knots and eliminating carbuncles (evacuating knots and eliminating carbuncles and poisons), and resolving phlegm and relieving cough. It is mainly used for treating lung-heat and dry cough, carbuncle, scrofula (mainly refers to tuberculosis of cervical lymph nodes) and so on. 1. Chuanbeimu is bitter and slightly cold, which can clear away heat, dissolve phlegm, disperse knots and eliminate carbuncles. In the treatment of scrofula, it is often used with oyster, xuan shen, etc. In the treatment of carbuncle and sores, it is often used with dandelion, forsythia, smallpox powder, etc. to reduce swelling and dissipate lumps and remove heat and toxins in the body (to remove heat and toxins in the body); in the treatment of carbuncle, cough and vomiting of pus and blood in the lungs, it can be used with asters and platycodonis. It should be noted that Chuan Beimu should not be used with Cao Wu, Chuan Wu, Radix Aconiti, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae.
