Xuanmai Ganjie should be Xuanmai Ganjie preparations (including granules, capsules and tablets). Xuanmai Ganjie preparations and Tianwang Xinxin Pills should not be taken together because of the overlap of medicines and efficacy of the two.
1. Xuanmai Ganjie Granules are composed of Xuanshen, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Platycodon grandiflorus and Maidong. Its function is to clear away heat and nourish yin, dispel phlegm and benefit the pharynx. It is mainly used for treating sore throat, dry mouth and nose caused by exuberant yin deficiency and rising fire.
2. Tianwang Xinzhu Pill is composed of Salvia miltiorrhiza, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix et Rhizoma Ophiopogonis, Poria, Rhizoma Asparagus, Radix et Rhizoma Platycodonis, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Cinnabaris, and others. Its function is to nourish yin and blood, tonifying the heart and tranquilizing the mind. It is mainly used for the treatment of insomnia and dreaminess, palpitation and forgetfulness, constipation caused by insufficiency of heart yin.
Xuanmai Ganlang Granules and Tianwang Xinzhu Pills both contain Xuanshen, licorice, maitake, and platycodon, both of which have the effect of nourishing yin, and it can be applied to one of them after identification by professional Chinese medicine practitioners, and it can be avoided to avoid overdose of the same drug.
The adverse reactions and contraindications of the two drugs are not clear. The two drugs should not be used with drugs containing veratrum, and should not be used with drugs containing seaweed, halberd, glycyrrhiza, coriander. Tianwang Xinxin Pill contains cinnabar should not be taken for a long time, and should be used with caution in patients with liver and kidney insufficiency.
