The liver is the largest organ of the body, as well as the largest gland and the largest substantial organ. It is located in the right upper abdomen of the body, extending from the lower end of the right rib cage to a position in the middle of the upper abdomen, and is mostly hidden under the rib cage.
The liver has no pain nerves and does not feel pain. Only the peritoneum has pain nerves. Intrahepatic stones, intrahepatic bile duct stones, hepatitis, and liver cancer can cause pain in the liver region. Liver pain is usually located in the right upper abdomen, that is, the right quarter rib area, or it is also manifested as right back pain, and the degree and type of pain varies, divided into distension, dull pain or pins and needles pain, which intensifies during activity. Pain in the liver area is usually due to congestion, swelling and necrosis of liver cells causing the outer layer of the liver to be propped up, which produces vague, intermittent or persistent pain after irritation of nerves, mildly just feeling discomfort in the right upper abdomen.
Usually the symptoms of chronic liver disease are not obvious, so when there is discomfort, it is important to go to the hospital for a professional examination and consult your doctor to rule out disease factors. It is also important to take precautions on a daily basis by not smoking or drinking, avoiding late nights, and exercising appropriately to improve your immune system.
