How long it takes to heal from bronchopneumonia, also known as lobar pneumonia, depends largely on the patient’s own immunity and the severity of the disease. In most cases, mild bronchopneumonia can be cured after a week or so of standard treatment. In special cases, such as infection with Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc., these bacteria are relatively virulent and require antibiotic treatment, which may require a combination of two or more antibiotics, and the course of treatment may be extended by a week, or more than two weeks, to achieve recovery. If the patient himself has immunocompromised diseases, such as AIDS, and chronic diseases such as diabetes that are not well controlled, treatment with sensitive antibiotics for 1 month, or even about 2 months, is necessary to achieve complete healing.
