Cervical traction is performed for 30 minutes each time, 1-2 times a day. The main function is to brake the cervical vertebrae, release the spasm of neck muscles, restore the normal arrangement of cervical intervertebral joints and the relationship between the intervertebral foramen, so as to relieve the compression and stimulation of the nerve root, so that the intervertebral space is widened, which is conducive to the return of the nucleus pulposus and the fibrous annulus self-repair. Traction can be taken in sitting or lying position, it is advisable to take the head slightly tilted forward, neck slightly flexed position, neck hyperextension traction can often make the pain symptoms worse. Intermittent traction can be used for mild symptoms, while continuous traction is recommended for severe symptoms. The weight of traction is 2-6kg, depending on the patient’s body weight and condition, the weight should be light at the beginning of traction, and then gradually increase, 2-4 weeks for a course of treatment.
