Small cystic foci in the liver are generally referred to as hepatic cysts, which are very common benign clinical lesions of the liver, mostly due to congenital developmental abnormalities, inflammation, trauma, and other causes. Of course, the etiology of some liver cysts is not very clear. Small hepatic cysts usually have no clinical symptoms and do not present with abnormal liver function. Therefore, for small cystic foci in the liver, regular ultrasound or CT follow-up observation is usually possible, and it is sufficient to pay attention to low-fat diet, regular diet and less alcohol consumption in daily life. For some large liver cysts, it should also be decided whether the cysts need to be treated accordingly according to their diameter, location, and whether clinical symptoms appear. If the cyst is located on the surface of the liver, has a diameter of more than 5 cm, and shows clinical symptoms such as abdominal distension by pressing on the stomach or duodenum, surgical treatment can be considered, and laparoscopic opening and drainage of liver cysts is preferred. Of course, some liver cysts may also develop secondary infection and form liver abscesses, which should be considered for anti-inflammatory treatment, and surgical treatment can be considered after the inflammation is stabilized.
