The Tiantu point is located in the middle of the neck, in the depression of the upper sternal fossa. It is an acupuncture point on the Ren Chakra and is used in Chinese medicine to regulate the lung, resolve phlegm, open the pharynx, promote lung qi, and stop coughing. Because of its location near the throat, the acupoint can treat throat and neck problems such as sore throat and loss of voice, as well as neck disorders such as gall tumors and plum pneumonia, depending on the proximity of the point. Because of its location on top of a channel that connects the lungs to nature, it can promote the circulation of lung qi, stop coughing and resolve phlegm, and treat coughs and asthma caused by various problems. It can be used in combination with other acupuncture points, such as the Ding Gas point and the Tanzhong point for asthma and coughing, the Fenglong point for plum pneumonia, and the Shaoshang point for sore throat.
