What does rough liver mean?

Coarse liver is often heard during clinical examinations and usually refers to an imaging clinical description term for the texture of the liver during liver ultrasound, such as a slightly coarse liver texture, usually this clinical description refers to moderate to severe fatty liver, hepatitis, liver fibrosis or cirrhosis. Fatty liver is more common in clinical practice, because nowadays human diet is high in protein, fat and sugar, which increases the burden on the liver, and nutrients accumulate in the liver cells and cause fatty liver, which appears as rough liver echogenicity under ultrasound. Most people can be diagnosed with fatty liver as long as they do not have long-term drinking habits and are not infected with hepatitis virus. If the liver is found to be rough, it is still necessary to draw blood or further improve the examination to rule out the presence of hepatitis virus infection, especially hepatitis B or immune hepatitis, cholestatic hepatitis. If necessary, liver aspiration is needed to clarify the degree of liver fibrosis or sclerosis.
