Radiotherapy for malignant gliomas usually takes 3 to 7 weeks, but the exact length of time is related to the type of pathology, degree of malignancy, etc. and cannot be generalized. Gliomas are tumors originating from the nervous system and can be classified as astrocytomas, glioblastomas, and so on, depending on their cell types. Typical symptoms of glioma include headache, nausea, vomiting, epilepsy, blurred vision, etc., and may be accompanied by decreased brain function, impaired speech and vision. The duration of radiation varies with different grades of gliomas. Twenty days of radiation therapy is usually all that is needed, but the exact amount of time needed for ungraded gliomas may vary. For highly malignant gliomas, the clinic emphasizes high-dose radiotherapy with a dose of 60 Gy, which takes six to seven weeks. For low-grade malignant gliomas, the dose of radiation therapy is somewhat lower at 45 to 54 Gy and takes five to six weeks.
