What happens when the yolk sac is visible and no germ is seen?

If it is the first time you have an ultrasound and you see the yolk sac but not the germ in early pregnancy, it is possible that the gestation period is small and you can wait for 1-2 weeks before you can see the germ and the heartbeat on the repeat ultrasound, which is a normal pregnancy. After 1-2 weeks or longer, if the yolk sac is still visible on the repeat ultrasound, but no germ or heart tube is visible, it is necessary to combine with other laboratory tests to determine if the embryo has been aborted. Therefore, if you see only the yolk sac and no germ during the first ultrasound, don’t be nervous, it is often because the pregnancy is too few weeks old and the embryo is still small and no germ has formed yet. Therefore, dynamic observation is necessary, and if no embryo bud is seen after long dynamic observation, it should be considered as embryonic abortion.
