What is a hernia how to treat a hernia

A hernia is a part of human tissue or organ that leaves its original part and enters another part through a gap, defect or weak part of the body. It is commonly known as “small intestine hernia”, including umbilical hernia, inguinal hernia, hiatal hernia, incisional hernia, surgical recurrent hernia, white line hernia, femoral hernia, etc. Most of the hernias are caused by coughing, sneezing, overexertion, excessive abdominal fat, forceful defecation, pregnancy, excessive crying of children, etc. The hernia firstly affects the digestive system of patients, resulting in symptoms such as lower abdominal cramps, abdominal flatulence, abdominal pain, constipation, poor nutrient absorption, easy fatigue and decreased physical fitness. Since the inguinal region is adjacent to the genitourinary system, elderly patients are prone to bladder or prostate diseases such as frequent urination, urgent urination and increased nocturia; children may be affected by the normal development of testicles due to the extrusion of the hernia; and middle-aged and young patients are prone to sexual dysfunction. The intestinal canal or omentum inside the hernia sac is easily squeezed or collided to cause inflammatory swelling, resulting in difficulty in hernia retraction, leading to hernia impaction, intestinal obstruction, intestinal necrosis, severe abdominal pain and other dangerous situations. Conservative treatment There are two main types of conservative treatment: drug therapy and hernia belt therapy. Drug therapy: It can relieve the symptoms of abdominal distension, abdominal pain and constipation caused by hernia, thus reducing the hernia; the shortcoming is that it cannot control the hernia prolapse, and it cannot cure the hernia at all. Commonly used traditional Chinese medicines include Hernia Internal Dissipation Pill, Orange Kernel Pill, Tonic Chinese Medicine Pill, etc.; or cinnamon powdered and mixed with vinegar, gauze wrapped around the umbilicus, etc. Hernia belt therapy: It can quickly stop the protrusion of hernia, thus effectively stopping the development of hernia and relieving the symptoms of abdominal distension, abdominal pain and constipation caused by hernia. The disadvantage is that it is inconvenient to use and cannot cure the hernia. 2. Radical treatment Radical treatment includes hernia repair, hernia patch repair, hernia laparoscopic repair and hernia medical adhesive injection anastomosis. Hernia repair: the hernia ring is repaired by stripping part of the external oblique muscle of the abdomen. Hernia patch repair: A patch material is used to repair the hernia orifice instead of stripping part of the external abdominal oblique muscle. Hernia laparoscopic repair: Hernia repair or hernia patch repair is done through laparoscopic repair. 1. Hernia belt treatment is optional within 1-15 days of onset. In infants and children, hernia belt treatment can still be considered within 1 month. If the disease is not too severe, about 90% of infants can be cured by this method, and about 70% of adults can be cured. Most patients should consider radical therapy, but the use of a hernia belt before radical therapy is also beneficial, both to prevent further progression of the disease and to prevent acute complications such as hernia impaction and intestinal obstruction.
