How do you check your heart rate?

Heart rate can be observed by auscultation, pulse counting and ECG examination. 1. Auscultation: A stethoscope must be used. Usually the stethoscope is placed at the apex of the heart. The locating point is between the fifth rib in the left midclavicular line, where the apical beat is most visible. Do an auscultation count here and count the heart rate for 1 minute. 2. Pulse counting: A simpler way to measure heart rate is to count the pulse. Usually, the heart rate and pulse are identical, so by counting the pulse, the heart rate can usually be measured. However, this method is not suitable for patients with irregular heart rate, such as short pulse and premature beats. 3. Electrocardiogram (ECG): Most community hospitals can do ECG. The heart rate can be calculated by counting the time between two adjacent R waves and dividing the interval by 60. If there is a long-term abnormality in heart rate, it is recommended to consult a doctor for further examination and to clarify the cause with the help of the doctor for targeted treatment or therapy.
