Herpes simplex virus type I lgG positivity suggests that the organism is infected with herpes simplex virus type I, previous infection.
There are two types of herpes simplex virus, type I and type II. Currently, molecular biology methods are used to differentiate between type I and type II. Antibody tests can differentiate between type I and type II with lgM and lgG antibodies, respectively. lgM antibodies indicate a recent infection, while lgG indicates a previous infection, i.e., a previous infection with the virus.
A positive test indicates a higher than normal level of the test substance, suggesting infection with the pathogen, so a positive herpes simplex virus type I lgG indicates that the organism has been previously infected with a herpes simplex virus type I infection.
When herpes simplex virus type I lgG is positive, it should be treated aggressively under the supervision of a doctor.
