The female urethra is located in the perineal area, it is wrapped by the labia majora and only the opening of the urethra is visible on the surface of the body, called the external urethral opening. It is a round opening, about 4-5 mm in diameter, with a pinkish appearance, wrapped in mucous membrane and extending into the body. Its length is about 4-7 cm and it consists of smooth muscle covered with a layer of uroepithelial mucosa and has a smooth surface with some secretory function. Urethroscopy is performed and the mucous membrane of the urethra is seen to be peachy in color, after which it is connected to the bladder and enters the bladder. In women, when inflammatory changes occur, there can be congestion and edema of the urethral orifice and urethral mucosa, with thinning of the lumen or mucosal erosion. The urethra in women is located in the pelvic cavity, so it is difficult to see the full picture of the urethra with conventional ultrasound and X-ray examinations.
