The feeling of distension and the sound of running water in the abdomen after gastric cancer surgery are not normal. The feeling of bloating is caused by intestinal adhesion, pelvic fluid retention, acute urinary retention and so on. The sound of running water is caused by the poor digestion and absorption function of gastrointestinal tract after surgery, which leads to intestinal flatulence, thus stimulating the gastrointestinal peristalsis to enhance the sound of gurgling and running water. The reason for the feeling of bloating in the abdomen: (1) intestinal adhesion: because the postoperative did not get out of bed as early as possible, resulting in intestinal adhesion, thus appearing in the abdomen with a feeling of bloating. In severe cases, it may even lead to intestinal obstruction, and in serious cases, another surgery may be needed. (2) Pelvic effusion: It is because the wound is not treated in time after gastric cancer surgery, which leads to further infection of the wound, resulting in pelvic inflammation and inflammatory exudation of fluid in the pelvis. It manifests as swelling of abdomen, feeling of falling, abdominal pain, fever, lumbar pain and other symptoms. (3) Acute urinary retention: it is because of the implantation of pelvic metastasis after the surgery, which makes the mass grow larger and produces the feeling of compression to make the abdomen appear bloating, crushing sensation and so on. 2. Sound of running water: postoperative period will lead to poor digestion and absorption function of gastrointestinal tract, resulting in intestinal flatulence, which will stimulate peristaltic hyperactivity of gastrointestinal tract, resulting in gurgling sound of running water. The above symptoms after stomach cancer surgery need to be further examined by doctors for timely diagnosis and treatment to avoid unnecessary consequences and effects.
