Gout in traditional Chinese medicine is mostly a deficiency of the original standard, with deficiency of the internal organs as the main cause and dampness as the main pathological factor as the standard. At present, the main types of TCM diagnosis are phlegm obstruction type, damp-heat accumulation (dampness and heat in the body of each other) type, stasis-heat obstruction type, liver and kidney yin deficiency type, spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type, etc. Gout is also called “paralysis”, “calendar section disease”. Gout is also known as “paralysis”, “calendar disease” and so on. This disease is related to congenital insufficiency, weakness of internal organs, dietary disorders, and invasion of external evils. The deficiency of spleen and kidney is the root cause, and the accumulation of dampness, phlegm and stasis in the body is the symptom, which leads to paralysis of bones and joints of the limbs, and the gout is caused by the pain when there is no communication. At present, there is a lack of uniform standards for the identification and typing of gout, and there are mainly the following types of evidence: 1. Phlegm stagnation: swollen joints, localized soreness, swelling and pain, hard nodules without redness, accompanied by chest and epigastric constriction, swelling of the face and feet, dark tongue and fat tongue, white tongue coating, slippery pulse. 2. Damp-heat accumulation: joints are red, swollen, painful and refusing to be pressed, with localized burning sensation, which can be relieved when cooled, accompanied by fever and thirst, yellow and red urine, red tongue, yellow and greasy moss, and slippery pulse. 3. Stasis and heat obstruction: redness and stinging pain in the joints, localized swelling, hard nodules around the lesions, accompanied by dark purple skin color, dark purple tongue or petechiae, thin yellow moss, and thin stringy pulse. 4. Yin deficiency of the liver and kidney: joint pain like being caned, deformation of the joints, unfavorable flexion and extension, recurring after a long period of time, accompanied by dizziness, tinnitus, red tongue with little moss, and fine pulse (the pulse becomes narrower and finer and the rate is accelerated). At present, the opinions of various medical practitioners on the identification and typing of gout in traditional Chinese medicine are not uniform, and it is recommended that patients consult a specialist for identification when necessary.
