The kidneys are located in front of the bottom three pairs of ribs on both sides of the back, protected by the 10-12 ribs, and this location is the kidney area. If there are kidney stones or kidney inflammation, this area will be painful, which can usually be determined by laboratory tests. A urine test, a kidney function test, and an ultrasound of the kidneys can basically determine whether there are any problems with the kidneys. There is also the fact that the kidney is near the spine, sometimes the patient’s pain is not accurately localized and mistaken for back pain.
