For lumbar spinal stenosis, the following treatment can be taken clinically: 1. If the degree of spinal stenosis is relatively mild and is caused by inflammatory factors, conservative treatment can be preferred. Conservative treatment requires the patient to maintain strict bed rest with braking and to be treated with anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling, and dehydrating drugs, such as mannitol with sodium heptaerythrospermum, in combination with non-steroidal drugs. In addition to this, traction, acupuncture, massage, herbal fumigation and other physical therapy can be applied. 2. If the degree of lumbar spinal stenosis is heavy or caused by bony factors, early surgery is required. The main principle of surgery is to enlarge the internal diameter of the spinal canal through a series of means, such as posterior windowing, so that the spinal cord or nerve roots will no longer be compressed and the symptoms of the disease will be relieved.
