Dolutegravir generally refers to dolutegravir sodium tablets, which can be taken twice as directed by your doctor. Dotiravir sodium tablets are generally used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected adults and patients who are 12 years of age or older. It is used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected adults and pediatric patients who are 12 years of age or older. Generally once daily is sufficient for patients 12 years of age or older, and once daily for adult patients who are not diagnosed or clinically suspected of being resistant to integrase inhibitors. If a resistant patient is diagnosed, it may be taken twice daily. Co-administration with drugs such as efavirenz, etravirine, rifampicin, and carbamazepine, which significantly reduce plasma concentrations of dolutegravir, should be avoided in the resistant population.
