Recent literature research, lumbar disc herniation patients gradually increased, while the treatment and rehabilitation means of lumbar disc gradually systematized. Many patients today are very vague about the functional exercise of the lumbar disc, I will explain the science of lumbar disc herniation one after another, here is an excerpt of the chief physician of the physical therapy and rehabilitation department of the PLA General Hospital, Professor Huang Meiguang’s medical gymnastics about lumbar disc herniation in the recumbent position, dedicated to you. I hope to be able to serve more patients and friends by taking advantage of Prof. Huang’s systematic summary. On behalf of me and my loved ones and friends who are fortunate enough to apply the knowledge here, I would like to salute Professor Huang! Professor Huang researched and prepared a set of medical gymnastics for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation based on the pathological characteristics and dysfunctional status of lumbar disc herniation. This set of gymnastics is based on the exercise of the lumbar back muscles, strengthening the lumbar and lower back functional movement on the affected side, adjusting the muscle tension on both sides of the lumbar vertebrae and both lower limbs, and relieving the symptoms. Its efficacy is remarkable, and it is widely spread in the society. Its guidance to patients to apply the method of exercise, to assist in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of the disease has achieved significant results, now its physical therapy exercise movements are introduced as follows: Section 1: clenched fist flexion elbow flexion ankle exercise. Preparatory posture: the patient is lying on his back, both legs are naturally straight, and both arms are placed on the side of the body. Action: ① Clench your fist with both hands and flex both elbow joints and ankle joints at the same time. ②Restore to the preparatory position. Repeat 12 to 16 times (see Figure 1). Section 2: alternate flexion and extension of the legs. Preparation posture: the same as section 1. Movements: ① left leg bending knee up (as close to the abdomen as possible). ② Return to the preparatory position. ③ to ④ as ① to ②, but the left and right legs are exchanged. Repeat left and right 6-8 times each (see Figure 1). Section 3: Head-up and chest-up exercise. Prepared posture: patient supine position, both hands clenched fist flexed elbow on the side of the body. Action: ① lower limbs fixed, chest up, head tilted back. ② Restore to the preparatory position. Repeat 12 to 16 times (see Figure 2). Section 4: straight-legged hip lift exercise. Preparation posture: similar to section 1, but the two feet hooked up. Action: two knees straight, the use of lumbar muscle strength left and right to lift the hips alternately, similar to the stepping movement. Repeat 12 to 16 times (see Figure 2). Section 5: straight leg forward flexion and back extension exercise. Prepared position: patient lying on the left side, right hand holding the bed, right leg straight up, left leg slightly flexed at the bottom. Movements: ① right straight leg forward flexion, then force backward extension, straighten the waist and tilt the head. ② Restore to the preparatory position. Repeat 6 to 8 times. And then right side lying position, the same ① ~ ②, repeat the movement of the left leg 6 ~ 8 times (see Figure 3). Section 6: Single straight leg posterior upward movement. Prepared position: patient in prone position with both arms and both legs naturally straight. Movements: ① Straighten the left lower limb and lift it backwards as far as possible. ② Return to the preparatory position. ③~④Same as ①~②, but lift the right lower limb backward. Alternate between left and right, repeat 6 to 8 times each (see Figure 3). Section 7: Prone exercise. Prepared position: patient prone position, both elbows flexed, both hands placed in front of the chest press bed, both legs naturally straight. Action: ① two elbows straight up, while lifting the upper body backward, chest up. ② restore into a preparatory position, repeat 12 to 16 times (see Figure 4). Section 8: “boat-shaped” exercise. Prepared position: patient prone, both arms straight at the side of the body. Movements: ① straighten both arms and both lower limbs and lift them backward with force at the same time, while raising the chest and head. ② Restore to the preparatory position. Repeat 12 to 16 times (see Figure 4) Section 9: Voluptuous thoracic propping exercise. Preparatory posture: the patient sits back at the hips, kneeling propped up on the bed, with both hands propped up in front. Movements: ① flex your arms, upper body as prone as possible on the bed and move forward, and then both arms straighten up. ② restore into a preparatory position, repeat 12 to 16 times (see Figure 5) In this set of medical gymnastics, it should be noted that: (1) the beginning of the exercise, first do the above section of 1/3, gradually increase after adaptation, until the completion of the entire set of movements. (2) exercise, each section of the exercise should be a moment of rest time. Each section of the number of repetitions should be less to more, gradually increase. Action should be slightly slower. (3) exercise allows a mild pain, but should not be severe pain. At the same time should avoid excessive force, power should be used in combination with the inner strength. (4) Exercise with regularity, generally 1 to 2 times a day, and persistent, in order to achieve recovery and relapse prevention role. In order from top to bottom, Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 2, Figure 4, Figure 5.
