Pediatric massage is a method based on the holistic concept of Chinese medicine and guided by the theories of yin and yang, the five elements, and the internal organs and meridians, using various techniques to stimulate acupuncture points, so that the meridians are smooth and the qi and blood flow, in order to adjust the function of the internal organs and achieve the purpose of healing and health care. The treatment system of pediatric tui na was formed in the Ming Dynasty, marked by the release of monographs on pediatric tui na, such as “The Massage Sutra of the Infant Protection”. The acupuncture points of pediatric tui-na are dotted, linear and faceted, and the method of operation emphasizes lightness, gentleness, smoothness and solidity, with emphasis on complementary and diaphoretic techniques and operating procedures, which are effective for common and multiple diseases, especially for digestive diseases. Under the guidance of TCM theory, it is widely used for children’s diarrhea, vomiting, food accumulation, anorexia, constipation, abdominal pain, prolapse, cold, cough, asthma, fever, enuresis, nocturnal cry, myxomatous squint, pillow, shock and other diseases.
