Constant craving for food may be due to physiological, emotional and psychological factors, or it may be due to metabolic disorders such as hyperthyroidism and diabetes mellitus.

3. Metabolic diseases.
(1) Hyperthyroidism:Hyperthyroidism secretes too much thyroid hormone. The increased secretion of thyroid hormones leads to an increase in the body’s basal metabolic rate, which increases the amount of energy consumed and needs to be replenished through eating, so the patient will always want to eat. It is also accompanied by symptoms such as trembling hands and panic attacks.
(2) Diabetes Mellitus:Diabetic patients tend to have reduced utilization and uptake of glucose by peripheral tissues when their blood sugar is poorly controlled. Although the blood sugar is high, the patient is always hungry and always wants to eat.
When patients experience the symptom of always wanting to eat, no treatment is needed if it is caused by physiologic factors. After physiological factors are ruled out, the patient should seek medical attention and follow the doctor’s instructions.
