What’s that little hole in the top of your ear?

A small hole above the ear is commonly known as a preauricular fistula. Pre-auricular fistula is a congenital deformity that can be caused by underdevelopment of the auricular tissue. It commonly presents as a visible indentation above the ear or as a small hole-like change, mostly opening in front of the foot of the pinna. If there is no discomfort other than a small amount of white discharge and mild localized itching when the patient presses on the small hole, it can usually be left untreated. If there is a secretion blockage, overflow, accompanied by infection, or even broken, pus symptoms, you need to go to the regular hospital for fistula removal surgery. If a small hole in the ear is a fistula in front of the ear, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s advice to choose the appropriate treatment according to the actual situation of the individual.
