During an ultrasound of the bladder, it is necessary to drink a lot of water and hold urine to fill the bladder before performing the exam, but the bladder should not be filled too full. Holding the urine too full can make the patient feel uncomfortable or possibly spill urine during the exam, so holding the urine only requires a willingness to urinate. The ultrasound probe is placed on top of the abdomen, sweeping from below the umbilicus to above the pubic symphysis and from left to right in multiple views, mainly observing the storage of urine in the bladder, the morphology of the bladder for abnormality, the structure of the bladder wall for normalcy, and the mucosa of the bladder for any foreign bodies, such as polyps, tumors, stones, and so on.
