Herpes labialis is not a precursor to AIDS, but having a disease such as AIDS can predispose to the condition. Herpes labialis is caused by herpes simplex virus infection. After entering the skin and mucous membranes, the virus can proliferate locally and form an incipient infection, which will then remain latent for a long time. In conditions of low immunity, such as exertion and fever, the virus is activated and herpes reappears. Herpes labialis is not caused by HIV and is therefore not a precursor to AIDS. However, AIDS affects the immune system, making it susceptible to herpes simplex virus infection or reactivation of the virus, which can lead to the appearance of herpes. The appearance of symptoms of herpes labialis does not mean that it is related to AIDS, and patients should relax and seek timely medical examination and treatment.
