Why does esophageal cancer cause fever

Fever in esophageal cancer may be an inflammatory reaction caused by low immunity of patients or local invasion of tumor.
Esophageal cancer is a malignant tumor originated from esophagus, which mainly manifests symptoms such as difficulty in swallowing, persistent retrosternal pain, etc. Patients with poor resistance and low immunity after surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are prone to cancerous fever; or when esophageal cancer infringes on the surrounding lung tissues and local inflammation occurs, the symptom of fever may also appear.
Esophageal cancer should be detected, diagnosed and treated at an early stage to improve the survival time of patients. If fever occurs, treatment should be taken under doctor’s guidance, and regular checkups should be conducted to monitor the changes of the condition, and timely consultation should be made when there is any abnormality.
