Location of the suspensory ligament

The suspensory ligament is a ring of structures located around the lens that serves to maintain the normal position of the lens. If the suspensory ligament is relaxed or ruptured due to trauma or other diseases, it can cause dislocation of the lens. If there is a serious impact on vision, or even if the dislocation is extensive, early surgery is required to repair the suspensory ligament or to replace the lens. If the cause of the dislocation or rupture of the suspensory ligament is mainly due to an abnormality or a condition caused by eye trauma, surgery must be performed, as conservative treatment is not effective.
