What does multiple luminal infarcts mean?

Multiple lacunar infarction refers to multiple lacunar cerebral infarction, which is one of the types of cerebral infarction and refers to the occlusion of tiny arteries occurring deep in the brain, with lesions ranging from 2-20 mm, of which 2-4 mm is the most frequent. Most of the patients have no obvious symptoms clinically, but if the patient has more infarct foci, the patient will have certain memory loss, dizziness, headache, unresponsiveness, and some of them may have vascular dementia, choking on water, strong crying and strong laughing. Patients found to have multiple lacunar cerebral infarcts should intervene early with medication in general and adhere to the medication to prevent the increase of infarcts. Patients can use aspirin to anti-platelet aggregation and control underlying diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia to prevent recurrence of cerebral infarction.
