What causes ischemic enteritis

Ischemic enteritis may be caused by diuretic abuse, chronic constipation, cardiac insufficiency, and vascular disease.
There are more causes of ischemic enteritis, which are classified into non-vascular obstructive and vascular obstructive types. Vascular obstructive colonic ischemia may be caused by mesenteric vascular thrombosis, mesenteric artery trauma, embolism, or ligature of the inferior mesenteric artery and abdominal aortic reconstruction surgery during colon surgery.
Non-vascular obstructive colonic ischemia is mostly spontaneous and is seen in the elderly, but also in infectious shock, neurological shock, anaphylactic shock, and other causes of hypotension, and ischemic enterocolitis is more likely to occur in patients with underlying diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, or those who are also taking medications that affect visceral blood flow.
It is recommended that patients with ischemic enteritis go to the general surgery department or gastroenterology department of regular hospitals for detailed consultation.
