How to position the lateral nasopharyngeal film

Lateral nasopharyngeal radiographs are mainly used to diagnose adenoid hypertrophy in children. The main clinical symptom of adenoid hypertrophy in children is snoring during sleep, and long-term hypertrophy can cause adenoid face and adjacent organ dysfunction. Lateral nasopharyngeal radiographs can diagnose the degree of adenoid hypertrophy and see if there is any narrowing of the airway under pressure. When taking the film, the patient should generally stand on the right side and take the film with the head tilted back mildly about 15 degrees, the center line is aligned with the horizontal straight intake at 1/3 of the nasal line, the distance between the bulb and the nasopharynx is 1 meter, the patient is instructed not to do swallowing action when taking the film, and the voltage of the tube should be lower than that of adults under the conditions of the film.
