Can Lung Nodule Surgery Allow Cancer to Spread?

Surgery for lung nodules does not in itself allow cancer cells to spread; spreading occurs mainly due to the high degree of malignancy of the tumor, tumor remnants, and so on.
Lung nodule resection surgery is essentially to remove malignant lung nodules, so as to achieve the purpose of removing malignant tissues as much as possible and avoiding the spread of the tumor. Therefore, lung nodule surgery, per se, does not affect the malignancy of the tumor, much less directly lead to the spread of the tumor.
The spread of malignant tumors is mainly due to the higher degree of malignancy and tumor remnants. Lung malignant tumors can be clearly staged according to pathological examination, and the higher the degree of malignancy, the higher the possibility of spreading. Meanwhile, surgery for lung nodule may not be able to completely remove the tumor residue in lymph nodes and other parts of the body, thus causing the spread of the tumor.
