Advantages of laparoscopic pediatric hernia surgery

Pediatric hernia is commonly known as “hernia” and “pneumonia”. Most of the hernias occur in the inguinal region (i.e., above the scrotum) and are medically referred to as “inguinal hernias,” which are mostly due to congenital anatomical abnormalities in children between the ages of 6 months and 14 years. When a pediatric hernia does not heal after 1 year of age, it is highly unlikely to heal on its own and should be operated on as soon as possible. In the treatment of pediatric hiatal hernia and syringomyelia, our laparoscopic surgical approach has obvious advantages over traditional surgical methods: 1. Small incision of only 0.5 cm. 2. Little intraoperative injury, not through the inguinal canal, so its anatomical structure is not destroyed. 3. The operation is easy and the operation time is short, only 5-8 minutes. 4.Basically no bleeding. 5.Less pain after the operation, quick recovery, the child can move and eat as usual after waking up from conventional anesthesia, and can be discharged after 6 to 24 hours of observation. 6.No suture is needed, so there is no scar after surgery. 7.Laparoscopy can clearly observe whether there is a hidden hernia on the opposite side, and can also cure the hernia on both sides at the same time at one time, avoiding secondary surgery. Therefore, compared with traditional surgical methods, laparoscopic treatment of pediatric hernia and syringomyelia is well received by the families of the children and recognized by surgical colleagues.
