Nifedipine extended-release tablets and Irbesartan differ in indications, adverse effects, and contraindications.
1. Indications: Nifedipine extended-release tablets are suitable for primary hypertension, chronic stable angina pectoris (exertional angina pectoris), vasospastic angina pectoris (variant angina pectoris, Prinzmetal’s angina pectoris). Irbesartan capsules or tablets are indicated for hypertension, dispersible tablets are indicated for essential hypertension, type 2 diabetic nephropathy combined with hypertension.
2. Adverse reactions: nifedipine extended-release tablets at the beginning of the drug, there are often headache, upper and lower extremity redness, swelling, pain (limb redness and pain), redness and/or skin redness accompanied by a feeling of heat (erythema) and other discomforts, and occasional dizziness, fatigue, tachycardia, palpitations and other adverse reactions. The common adverse reactions of Irbesartan are mostly manifested in postural hypotension or vertigo, skeletal muscle, connective tissue and bone abnormalities.
3. Contraindications: nifedipine extended-release tablets are prohibited in patients with unstable angina, severe aortic stenosis (aortic (valvular) stenosis), myocardial infarction episodes in the last four weeks, taking rifampicin, pregnant women, patients who have had cardiogenic shock, allergy to this drug. Irbesartan is contraindicated in patients who are breastfeeding, in the fourth to ninth month of pregnancy, or who are allergic to this drug.
