Difference Between Allyl Estradiol and Progesterone

Allylestrenol and progesterone are both sex hormones, but allylestrenol is a non-natural estrogen and progesterone is a natural progestin, both can be used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding, menstrual disorders, and other reproductive endocrine disorders, but the mechanism of action and the method of use are different. Estrogen’s hemostatic mechanism is mainly to repair the endometrium from the basal layer and promote the proliferation of the endometrium to achieve hemostasis. It can be used alone for irregular vaginal bleeding during puberty, but it should be used in conjunction with progesterone for abnormal vaginal bleeding during the reproductive period, and it is not recommended to be used for perimenopausal women. Progesterone is mainly used to promote the secretion of endothelium, which is suitable for bleeding caused by luteal gland dysfunction before and after menstruation and delayed menstruation. It can also be used in the treatment of preeclampsia, infertility, and can be used to treat dysmenorrhea caused by endometriosis. Perimenopausal women can use progesterone alone to treat abnormal uterine bleeding.
