Answers to Parents’ Questions: Is My Baby Fat Fold or Girdle Syndrome?

There are two main types of parents who inquire about this issue. One is that they have read about fasciculation syndrome by chance and are worried that their babies are in a fasciculation, and send me pictures or videos of their babies to make sure that they are in a fasciculation; the other is that they do not know anything about fasciculation, or have never even heard of it before, but have been reminded by the doctor to pay attention to the creases in the baby’s arms or legs during the medical checkups with the babies. Some of the babies who come to the clinic for online counseling or in the clinic are indeed in a girdle, but the vast majority of babies are not in a girdle, they are just chubby. The folds that are formed by obesity will grow over time, so parents do not need to be anxious. And if it is a real harness, like a rope tied a knot, strangled very deep, a whole circle completely articulated, parents have to find the relevant doctor for a clear diagnosis, if necessary, surgical treatment. It is not true that babies with harnesses are absent, but the incidence of harnesses is not high, so parents should not be too hasty. If you are not too sure, you can send me your baby’s condition every month or every two months to take a look.
