What are the tests for clay-colored stools?

Stool pottery color is mostly related to obstructive diseases of the biliary tract, such as common bile duct stones, which cause abnormal bile secretion or discharge, and should be examined by liver function, ultrasound of liver, gallbladder, spleen and pancreas, and abdominal CT. 1. Biliary stones: Biliary obstruction can occur secondary to the presence of stones in the biliary tract. As the bile cannot flow into the intestine normally, there is a lack of bilirubin in the stool, which in turn shows a potter’s earth color. 2. Tumor of head of pancreas: progressive aggravation of jaundice may occur, and most patients will have symptoms of obstructive jaundice, such as yellow staining of skin and mucous membranes, lightening of the color of stools with clay-like color, and yellowish color of urine. 3. Duodenal papillary carcinoma: patients take gradually aggravating obstructive jaundice as the first symptom, and may have dark yellow urine and white clay-like stool, and some patients may have systemic symptoms such as itchy skin, fatigue, emaciation and so on. Therefore, if the patients’ stools are in pottery-earth color, they should go to regular hospitals in time for consultation, and after clarifying the cause of the disease, they should carry out targeted treatment under the guidance of doctors in order to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
