Adenocarcinoma of the descending colon is one of the types of colon cancer, referring to tumor lesions located in the descending colon and pathological typing of adenocarcinoma, which is a common type of colon cancer typing. The current treatment is mature and the treatment plan is based on surgical resection of the lesion and postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy, and also immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and Chinese herbal medicine can be selected according to the patient’s general condition and postoperative pathology immunohistochemistry. The current treatment is mature and effective, which can effectively reduce the recurrence of tumor and improve the chances of survival, and some patients can achieve clinical cure after systematic treatment.
If the lesion is in the in situ cancer stage after colonoscopy, endoscopic treatment can be performed, and chemotherapy or immunotherapy is an option after surgery.
If the lesion is in the middle to late stage, with invasion of the peri-pelvic tissues, and early surgery is not possible, radiotherapy can be administered first, and then surgery can be scheduled after the tumor shrinks and metastasis is controlled. If surgery is still not possible, palliative care is available, such as enterostomy, to resolve the symptoms of intestinal obstruction and improve the quality of life.
