What to do if your baby has a fever caused by food retention

Fever caused by food retention in babies can usually be treated with physical therapy, oral digestive medications as prescribed by the doctor, and fever-reducing medications.
1. Physical therapy: If the child’s fever is 38.5 ℃ or less, usually do not need to use drugs, parents do not give the child too much clothing, drink more water, and use warm water to wipe the body. At the same time, massage the abdomen to promote gastrointestinal peristalsis, and eat a small amount of easily digestible food.
2. Promote digestion drugs: Parents can follow the doctor’s instructions to the child to take pediatric seven-star tea and pediatric elimination granules and other digestive Chinese medicines. To help defecate, the fever will subside if the stool is cleared. If the fever is only reduced, the temperature may rise again after a few hours.
3. Fever-reducing drugs: If the fever is 38.5 ℃ or higher, you can give the child under the guidance of the doctor to take pediatric Chai Gui fever-reducing granules, acetaminophen suspension drops and other children’s drugs. If 39 ℃ or more can be used ibuprofen suspension for emergency antipyretic.
Parents should take their children to the hospital if the fever persists and does not go down, avoiding self-medication to avoid delaying the condition and causing adverse consequences. All of the above drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor.
