Are ACL injuries and tears the same thing?

Anterior Fork Ligament (AFL) tears are the more serious of the AFL injuries, and the severity of the two is different.
1. An ACL tear is a partial or complete disruption of the continuity of the ligament, whereas an injury may only present with symptoms such as edema, and the severity of the two varies.
2. On imaging, ACL injuries are usually characterized by a gross, non-smooth ligament, whereas ligament tears are often characterized by a lack of ligament continuity.
3. Mild ligament injuries can be treated conservatively, and if the effect of conservative treatment is not good, surgical treatment is also feasible; however, ligament tears or ruptures are likely to have a greater impact on joint function, and usually require surgical treatment.
Patients with ligament injuries are advised to seek medical treatment in time, and develop suitable treatment programs according to their conditions under the guidance of doctors after perfect examination.
