Male pubic folliculitis may appear as red papules centered on hair follicles, sometimes topped with white pustules, and may be itchy and painful. Male pubic folliculitis is mostly associated with pathogenic infections, and factors such as hair plucking and trauma may also trigger the disease. Male patients who develop folliculitis in the pubic area will develop a red papule centered on a hair follicle, sometimes topped by a white pustule, perhaps with a reddish halo around the edge. The papules may grow over time and develop into pustules, which may contain yellow or white pus. Folliculitis can appear in any area with hair, commonly on the scalp, face, buttocks, and vulva. If the above symptoms appear on the pubic area of men, it is considered to be related to folliculitis, and patients are advised to seek medical examination to clarify the cause.
