Presentation of aortic coarctation ct

Aortic coarctation is a condition in which the intima and mesima of the aorta rupture due to prolonged hypertension as well as unhealthy blood vessels themselves, and blood enters between the intima and mesima, creating both true and false lumens. On CT, the main manifestation is a distinct true and false lumen, in most cases the true lumen is small and the false lumen is large, and a distinct contrast agent can be seen in the false lumen in a translucent manner. A dark red density shadow around the aortic wall can also be seen as a manifestation of interaortic wall hematoma. In addition, the rupture of the mesentery and intima can be seen. Once aortic coarctation is present, according to the manifestation of CT, two types of treatment are to be based on: 1) replacement of aortic artificial vessels; 2) aortic overlapping stent implantation surgery. Therefore, in case of aortic coarctation, one needs to know its staging to determine the next treatment plan.
