What is the psoas major muscle test

The lumbricalis major test is performed to determine if there is an inflammatory reaction in the lumbricalis major, lumbricalis square and iliacus muscles. These muscles are deeper and require special tests to determine if there is an inflammatory reaction. The lumbricalis major test can also determine the presence of abscesses in the iliac fossa, and there are two methods of operation. First, the patient is asked to lie on his side, one leg is straight, the upper leg is flexed at the hip and knee, the doctor fixes the patient’s pelvis with his hand, the other hand holds the upper calf and extends it backward extremely, if there is pain in the lower abdomen, it is positive for the lumbar major muscle test, which mostly suggests abscess in the iliac fossa and inflammation of the lymph nodes. If there is pain in the right abdomen, there may be inflammation of the appendix. Secondly, the patient is asked to lie on his back, both lower limbs are naturally straight, elevate one limb, while pressing down with the hand to counteract the elevated limb, if there is inflammatory stimulation of the iliopsoas muscle, there will be pain in the right lower abdomen, and a positive psoas major test suggests inflammatory stimulation of the iliopsoas muscle.
