How can patients with cardiovascular disease survive the summer?

After the rainy season, the summer heat rapidly entered, and the number of patients with fever and acute enteritis, as well as the number of patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases suddenly increased in major hospitals, such as patients with coronary heart disease leading to angina pectoris and even heart attack and sudden death, patients with hypertension with sudden increase in blood pressure and cerebral hemorrhage, and middle-aged and elderly people with hypertension or atherosclerosis waking up in the morning with hemiplegia of one limb. Why does the incidence of cardiovascular disease form a small peak in the summer? This is related to people’s misunderstanding of cardiovascular diseases. Many people think that “it is hot, blood pressure is normal, so there is no need to take antihypertensive drugs”, or “in summer, appetite is not open, eat less, so you can stop using lipid-lowering drugs”. Some patients with heart and brain diseases even reduce or stop their medication at will, or even are too lazy to follow up with the hospital because of the heat, so they relax their vigilance until their condition worsens or complications arise. Cardiovascular function is the most sensitive to temperature changes, summer temperatures rise, the human subcutaneous vascular expansion, skin blood flow than the usual increase of about 3-5 times, while the amount of blood flow back to the heart is reduced, which will directly affect the myocardial blood supply; people in a high-temperature state, sympathetic excitability increased, the heart rate accelerated, the coronary artery contraction, myocardial oxygen supply reduced, which will also increase the onset of coronary heart disease; hot weather. The body mainly relies on evaporation of sweat to dissipate heat, water evaporates through sweat, and the water in the body decreases, resulting in increased blood viscosity, leading to myocardial infarction or cerebral thrombosis; long days and short nights in summer, hot weather, poor sleep, blood pressure is easy to rise, which is also one of the important causes of cardiovascular disease lesions. When the temperature rises, people’s blood vessels will expand, and some patients with cerebral atherosclerosis, cerebral infarction and coronary artery disease combined with hypertension have relatively easy to control their blood pressure temporarily, and may have normal blood pressure without taking antihypertensive drugs. However, most of these patients are taking long-acting antihypertensive drugs, which not only lower blood pressure but also have anti-atherosclerotic effects. Likewise, lipid-lowering drugs also have anti-atherosclerotic and plaque stabilizing effects in addition to lowering blood lipids. Therefore, anti-hypertensive drugs or lipid-lowering drugs should not be discontinued in summer, especially statins which need to be taken for a long time for patients with coronary artery disease. If necessary, the dosage of drugs should also be adjusted under the guidance of a specialist to reduce blood viscosity and avoid blockage of blood vessels. In summer, patients with cardiovascular disease should pay attention to what else besides scientific and standardized medication? 1, drink water in time When you wake up in the morning, it is the most concentrated blood throughout the day, a cup of warm water and light tea is very beneficial to blood circulation. The elderly or cardiovascular patients with high blood viscosity, sweating in summer, we should pay special attention to replenish water, is not thirsty also need to replenish water. Generally speaking, as long as there are about 1500 ml of urine per day, it means that there is enough water in the body. If the urine is small and yellow, it means that you need to replenish water. In addition, you should not drink water in time because you are afraid that the increase in night urination will affect your sleep. If you have conditions, you can always drink such as mung bean soup, lotus seed soup, lily soup, chrysanthemum tea, lotus leaf tea, etc., both to replenish water, but also to clear the heat, do not drink drinks containing caffeine. 2, the movement is appropriate not because of the fear of heat and not at home every day, the evening is the most stable time for cardiovascular function, it is appropriate to carry out activities in the cooler evening, do not exercise in the hot sun. The intensity of the activity should not feel tired, and the time should not exceed one hour. If the weather is hot and muggy and the humidity in the air is high, outdoor activities should be reduced. Generally speaking, it is very beneficial to cardiovascular health to maintain a combination of half an hour of walking in the morning, half an hour of activity in the evening, and half an hour of nap at noon. 3, prevent heat and cool down When outdoor activities or labor should wear a sun hat and have enough water to prevent the peripheral vasodilatation, insufficient blood volume and make the coronary artery blood supply reduced, myocardial ischemia and induced angina; also to prevent long time standing in a hot environment, blood flow to the lower extremities of the dilated blood vessels and cause heat fainting. When the weather is hot, air humidity, indoor air conditioning can be turned on, but the temperature should not be too low (not less than 25 degrees Celsius), every few hours to ventilate, which can regulate the indoor temperature, but also to reduce the humidity of indoor air. 4, light diet Summer people’s digestive function is reduced, appetite decline, diet should be light, eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, black fungus, soy products, etc.. Often eat some lean meat, fish, try to eat less too greasy or high-fat food. Meals should not be too salty, too much salt will make the blood pressure rise induced angina and so on. The amount of salt should not exceed 6 grams per day. 5, stable emotions in the summer heat, the body in order to heat, the heartbeat accelerates, the circulation accelerates, the myocardial oxygen consumption increases, people are easily irritable, prone to emotional instability. When over-excited, nervous, especially when the great joy and great sadness and anger, due to the central nervous stress response, can make the arterial vascular abnormal contraction and induce angina or myocardial infarction. Therefore, activities with strong psychological stimulation should be avoided. When the day is hot, the mood must not be irritable, to a quiet mood for “psychological cooling”. When the mood is calm, the sympathetic nerve tone will decrease. Blood pressure, heart rate, metabolism, body temperature also decreases, the human body has a strong ability to adapt to the environment, regardless of the external environment, as long as the psychological balance, tranquility, can play an extremely significant stabilizing and regulating effect.
