What are the respiratory medications?



Commonly used drugs in the respiratory system are antibiotics, antiviral drugs, antifungal drugs, expectorants, cough suppressants, glucocorticoid hormone drugs, antispasmodic drugs, chemotherapeutic drugs and so on.

1. Antibiotics: used for respiratory bacterial infections such as bacterial pneumonia, bronchodilatation, bronchitis, lung abscess, etc. Commonly used antibiotics are β-lactam antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalosporin antibiotics such as ceftriaxone, quinolone antibiotics such as levofloxacin and so on.

2. Antiviral drugs: generally used for severe viral pneumonia or respiratory viral infections with immunodeficiency, commonly used drugs are ribavirin, oseltamivir, acyclovir and so on.

3. Antifungal drugs: used for respiratory fungal infections such as Candida pneumonia, pulmonary aspergillosis, etc. Commonly used antifungal drugs are itraconazole, fluconazole, amphotericin and so on.

4. Expectorant drugs: used for various respiratory diseases with much phlegm, thick and not easy to cough out, commonly used expectorant drugs include aminobromine, bromhexine, carboxymethyl stannum and so on.

5. Glucocorticoid: used to inhibit immune response or inflammatory response, such as for bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, commonly used drugs are budesonide, methylprednisolone and so on.

6. Anti-spasmodic drugs: used for bronchial asthma, COPD and other airway spasm, such as aminophylline, terbutaline, ipratropium bromide and so on.

7. Chemotherapeutic drugs: used for chemotherapy treatment of respiratory malignant tumors, such as cisplatin, paclitaxel and so on.
