What is the hug reflex?

The hug reflex is one of the primitive reflexes of newborns, and it is one of the items of physical examination of newborns, through the examination of reflexes and muscle tone, we can probably understand the maturity of infants. The infant’s body is held in a reclined position with one hand, the other hand holds the head and neck, and then the hand that is dragging the head is quickly lowered so that the head and neck are tilted by 10 to 15 degrees, i.e., the embrace reflex appears as an abduction and straightening of the outer arm, followed by an inward receipt of the chest flexion. In the first month of prematurity, this reflex may end at the stage of adduction of the outer arms and reproduction.
