The deeper part of the tongue should refer to the root of the tongue. If there is a raised bump, consider that it may be due to a mass at the root of the tongue, inflammation, contour papillae, and so on.
1. Tumor at the root of the tongue: If there is a single bump, it may be a swelling at the root of the tongue.
2. Inflammation: If there are multiple, scattered raised bumps, it may be the tonsils at the root of the tongue, inflammation in the pharynx or tonsils. When the tonsils near the root of the tongue are inflamed and enlarged, raised and scattered bumps may form.
3. Contour papillae: There may also be contour papillae, which are multiple but arranged very regularly, forming a herringbone shape with the same size in the anterior 2/3 of the tongue and the posterior 1/3 of the tongue.
If there are raised bumps deep in the tongue, accompanied by pain, you can go to the stomatology department of a regular hospital or the oral and maxillofacial surgery department of a regular hospital as soon as possible.
