1. Physiological factors: due to frequent attention to sexual information, frequent sexual stimulation can cause hypersexuality, which can be solved by shifting attention, avoiding exposure to sexual information and reducing sexual stimulation.
2. Pathological factors:
(1) Hyperthyroidism: hypersexuality occurs due to the over secretion of thyroid hormone leading to increased excitability of various systems. Antithyroid drugs such as propylthiouracil, carbimazole, and β-blockers such as propranolol can be used; for patients with significant goiter and symptoms of compression, surgical treatments such as subtotal thyroidectomy can be chosen.
(2) Mania: it is a kind of psychosomatic disease, the typical symptoms are elevated emotion, running thought, increased speech and action, etc., and it can show hypersexuality. This disease can be treated by psychotherapy and medication, and electroconvulsive therapy can be chosen for patients with more serious symptoms if necessary.
Among them, drug therapy mainly includes mood stabilizers (lithium carbonate), antiepileptic drugs (carbamazepine) and antipsychotics (olanzapine, risperidone).
In the case of hypersexuality, if physiological factors are ruled out, timely medical treatment should be sought to identify the cause and actively treat it.
