Pregnant women should have a fasting blood glucose value of less than 5.1 mmol/L, a 1-hour postprandial blood glucose value of less than 10 mmol/L, and a 2-hour postprandial blood glucose value of less than 8.5 mmol/L.
Pregnant women’s blood glucose needs to be monitored, and if routine checkups during pregnancy reveal abnormal blood glucose, they should be alert to the possibility of gestational diabetes mellitus. An oral 75g glucose tolerance test should be performed on pregnant women who are seen for the first time at 24-28 weeks of gestation or after 28 weeks of gestation, or on pregnant women who have been found to have abnormal blood glucose.
